CEVO Condition Zero Season 1 Playoffs
Round 1 Prediction
After a good response from my first round predictions we come to round 2. Many twists and turns have happened already: FFL for Meng, GOOL sent to the lower bracket, and some really close matches. With some encouragement from the CEVO-CZ community I have high hopes for CEVO-CZ and to continue the legacy CZL started all those years back.
The second round map is de_inferno_cz. A close relative of the 1.6 version of de_inferno, the CZ version features 1 man crack house jump, a 1 man roof jump, and a pleasant evening scene with stupid lamps everywhere. Teams are going to have to utilize these new obstacles or advantages to fully take control of the map. I see 1.6 pugs getting a break this week with a 1.6 map but anything can happen in the post season. Teams that come with strats and shots will win this one because it is a one sided map where you’ll need T-side strats to get some rounds. I would like to see teams come up with some good strats to take a good T-side. CT-side will be easier for teams with good shots and good placement. I hope both sides are ready to take on the annoyingness of the crickets on the map. Good luck!
Upper Bracket Matches
Bipolar vs Simple Soldiers
Both of these strong teams survived to the second round of playoffs. Bipolar’s round 1 match was much closer than anyone would have predicted but with complications of lag outs and just other factors their match was a lot closer. But Scruffy and fabz really pulled through in the end and took that match successfully putting bipolar into round 2. Simple Soldiers had the opposite. They rocked their first match 16-8 against We Play Naked and got that ticket to the second round. I think this round will show similar signs of 1.6 tactics and regular season. Inferno seems to be an overplayed but popular map so both teams would have had lots of experience on it so it will be up to strats AND shots to win this one. I see simple soldiers definitely putting up a fight with that lineup and the 1.6 experience but I see bipolar pulling through on this one.
Domino Effect vs This is for Allah
Both of these teams have proven themselves worthy for round 2 playoffs. Domino Effect coming off a close 16-14 match against TopGun seems to be a little shaky but I still see them having a strong team to compete with. This is for Allah, on the other hand, seems to be one of those teams that could do amazingly well (16-6 win over GOOL) and then lose to some other teams. I didn’t see them coming on top over GOOL but they did and I commend them. Allah, with the right 5, can do a lot of damage to even a good experienced team like GOOL but let’s see them against DominoEffect this week in which I think should be a close match but with the rolling win over GOOL I see Allah carrying this momentum to this match and beating DominoEffect who just came off a really tough win. In the end, it will come down to shots for this match because both teams are at that good level of experience and smarts in this game.

Not Applicable vs Ya Dig?
Not Applicable coming off a good tough win over Wd2 in round 1 looks to continue their run in the upper bracket against Ya Dig?. I don’t see Not Applicable having a hard time here with this match because of their experience and shots just overpowering Ya Dig?. But I hate putting any team down too much so I think Ya Dig? can pull some rounds here and there but in the end sheer shots will end Ya Dig?’s run in the upper brackets. I still believe that Ya Dig? had every right for what they did but was a cheap getaway from their match with Meng. Good luck to both teams and let’s stop this chit chat and just continue to show good competitive competition (=D) in the remaining playoff matches.

Nigeria’s Money Crew vs 50 Caliber Gaming (iix)
With a new name, not sure if they have a sponsorship, 50 caliber jumps into round 2 with a convincing win over TWAT. Same with NMC who wrecked PSA in the 1st round has the momentum to keep something going because it is a 1.6 map for this heavy 1.6 ESEA-im roster. I don’t see a blowout by the favored 50CAL group but I see 50CAL coming out on top this time with the depth of their roster but the score will heavily depend on how 50CAL fields their roster and if their shots are on that night. 50CAL still looking to rip through upper brackets sees no challenge against NMC but hey…anything can happen in the playoffs. I see 50CAL coming out on top just because of their regular season performance and their 1.6 stacked roster.

Lower Bracket Matches
Together we are Terrific vs PSA
Both these teams were pretty much ripped in the first round of playoffs getting no more than 5 rounds but when these two collide it should be an interesting match. Both are CZ teams and should have no trouble with the CZ version of inferno so strats and shots are going to determine this match. I see PSA coming out on top convincingly seeing their experience on their roster and also with Creative from emergency hopefully fragging for them.

Meng vs We Drop Deuces
Sadly, Meng and Wd2 square off in round 2 lower brackets. It should’ve been Ya Dig? and Wd2 with Wd2 being able to continue in playoffs. But this match will be different with Meng in the picture. Meng will not lose this match at any cost and will defeat Wd2. I don’t see anything Wd2 can do to come out on top this match. I’m sorry guys tough luck. With Meng’s experience in 1.6 inferno AND inferno_cz this should be one of their BEST maps to play on. Meng should win this one convincingly like the match during regular season.

Get on our Level vs TopGun *MOTW* (lower)
Both teams suffered losses and are in the lower brackets. Both of these capable teams facing off against each other should end up in an interesting match. GOOL comes off a rather bad loss against This is for Allah Again, let’s see if they can bounce back with a stronger five on another 1.6-based map. TopGun on the other hand comes off a tough close loss. Hopefully, their momentum isn’t lost and can somewhat bounce back against GOOL. I see this being a close match but with the experience on GOOL I see them coming out on top. Don’t get me wrong, TopGun has plenty of experience in CZ-main and 1.6-im but GOOL has most people with 1.6 main level experience and I see them taking this by a slim margin in what should be an exciting match on inferno.

We Play Naked vs Azn Dragon Boiiz
By the time I wrote this Azn Dragon Boiiz beat WPN 16-12.
I expected Azn Dragon Boiiz to take more rounds on this match because of their dominance they showed against bipolar. Maybe their game wasn’t on but let’s move on. Good luck to Azn Dragon Boiiz in the lower brackets and better luck next time WPN!
