CEVO Map Making Contest
Have you ever wished your maps could be the next BIG competitive map? Well here is your opportunity to make it a reality and in the process win COLD HARD CASH!
CEVO has opened the door once again to this great contest and we will be accepting maps entries for the following games:
Guidelines / Requirements:
• Map must be designed as a defusal map
• Must be an original creation
• May not replicate any current map (ie. Dust10)
• Must be designed for competitive play
• Text File with Name / email address
• Map must be named as follows:
o de_cevo_mapname (for CS 1.6 and Source)
o mp_cevo_mapname (For CoD2)
Submissions: All submissions MUST be in a .ZIP or .RAR format and emailed to contests@cevo.com. Submissions will be accepted from now until July 20th
Prize(s): Each entry category will have one (1) winner selected. The selection of a winner will be determined by public vote. Each winner in each category will win $250.00 CASH and have their map showcased in next seasons map rotation.
Prize Distribution Guideline: The prize monies for this event are not transferable. All prizes must be redeemed within 30 days of the contest end date. If a winner cannot be contacted or is disqualified, CEVO LLC reserves the right to determine an alternate winner or not to award that winner's prize, in its sole discretion.
Eligibility and Limitations: Participants and winner(s) must be U.S. or Canadian residents at least 15-years old. Persons may enter as many times as they like. Employees of the Company, the Contest's participating sponsors and their advertising agencies, and members of the immediate family of any such persons are not eligible to participate and win. The term “immediate family” includes spouses, siblings, parents, children, grandparents, and grandchildren, whether as .in-laws,. or by current or past marriage(s), remarriage(s), adoption, co-habitation or other family extension, and any other persons residing at the same household whether or not related.
Publicity / Use: By participating, where allowed by law, all participants and winner(s) grant CEVO LLC exclusive permission to use their names, characters, photographs, voices, and likenesses in connection with promotion of this and other contests and waive any claims to royalty, right, or remuneration for such use. By participating in the Contest, where allowed by law, participants agree that CEVO LLC may disclose personal information obtained from participants in the Contest to third parties and use such information for marketing and other purposes. By participating in the Contest, where allowed by law, participants agree to give full ownership rights of all map entries to CEVO LLC.
Conduct and Decisions: By participating in the Contest, participants agree to be bound by the decisions of CEVO LLC personnel. Persons who violate any rule, gain unfair advantage in participating in the Contest, or obtain winner status using fraudulent means will be disqualified. Unsportsmanlike, disruptive, annoying, harassing or threatening behavior is prohibited. CEVO LLC will interpret these rules and resolve any disputes, conflicting claims or ambiguities concerning the rules or the Contest and CEVO LLC's decisions concerning such disputes shall be final. If the conduct or outcome of the Contest is affected by human error, any mechanical malfunctions or failures of any kind, intentional interference or any event beyond the control of CEVO LLC, CEVO LLC and reserves the right to terminate this Contest, or make such other decisions regarding the outcome as CEVO LLC deems appropriate. All decisions will be made by CEVO LLC are final. CEVO LLC may waive any of these rules in its sole discretion. ANY ATTEMPT BY A CONTESTANT OR ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL TO DELIBERATELY CIRCUMVENT, DISRUPT OR DAMAGE ORDINARY AND NORMAL OPERATION OF THIS CONTEST, TELEPHONE SYSTEMS OR WEBSITES, OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, CEVO LLC RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH PARTICIPANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

thank god :O. russka needs to go. i have no problem with forge/tuscan, but russka is just too much of a hassle to find a scrim on and practice.

If you are from another country, you may still be eligible. However, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to send prize money to you internationally. This is the only reason our rules say US/Canada only.

Contest rules state that your map must be an original production in order to qualify. You are welcome to port your map to 1.6, and we may in fact be interested in using it, but it wouldn't necessarily satisfy the stipulations of this contest. I will discuss it with Plitt.
An alternative would be to make a similiar map for 1.6, but still make it unique.

I think this is a great idea. Plus cash involved too. I will give it a go and get my clan involved as well. I think throwing a user-made cevo map would make things interesting seeing as how many of the maps we currently play on are getting kind of old.

Few things about your map:
1) Isn't anything I haven't seen before as far as style goes. (In fact looks all too similar to de_nuke as I'm guessin you just used those textures.)
2) I hope to god that isn't running just off your computer, as 60 fps on your computer translates to < 30 on a server. (You should be running your own map at at least 90 in order to ensure that the clients are running over AT LEAST 40 fps in the spots where it lags.) You've gotta think of everyone not just your high end players.
3) Don't get cocky kid I haven't released mine.

Actually that is with my Vsync. On server everyone has over 220FPS constant. Those pics are old and everything has changed. looking forward to seing yours

Me and a Teammate are also making 1.6 maps, just, taking a tad longer then we predicted. I wouldn't doubt others are as well, just cause it's so much easier in 1.6, so, yeah, there's going to be a load of competition so don't just throw anything together and expect to win.

If I submit de_concrete2, should I just remove the '2', even though there's already a de_concrete out there made by myself?

hmm I scrimmed de_cevo_hazard awhile back when n.2 started some scrims. It is a great map, looks great, and I get 100+ fps all around the map. But still looking forward to see other peoples maps :D
